Vienna Two

The Story

Josie and I took off for a romantic weekend in Vienna, Austria on 20th & 21st November. The forecast was for -2 Celsius and snow - and the city didn't disappoint us! We landed on the Friday night onto a snow-covered airport - a first for both of us - and went for a late walk once we'd checked into our hotel. Saturday dawned with clear blue skies, but it was excruciatingly cold. Sunday was cloudy, and by the time we got back to the airport for our flight home, it had started snowing again. By the time we took off another inch had fallen!

Vienna is beautiful - so rich in history and architecture. It was the centre of one of the world's largest empire, and the city still reflects that glory and grandeur. Click on!

Cameron looks up from his navigation! We went to a Mozart & Strauss concert at the Orangerie of the magnificant Schonbrunn Palace An external view of the Orangerie, looking warm & inviting A sadly unfocused photo of a very cute Josie outside the main gates to the Schonbrunn Palace
The fiakers (horse drawn carriages) line up for business outside the Stephansdom Josie hits the Schops! Cameron balances on a railing in the Spanish Riding School. Beautiful, well-trained, well-loved horses performed a lovely ballet My pre-conceived idea of what Vienna would look like - happened to be 100% true!
There are some obvious links between Austria and Australia - we saw numerous t-shirts saying "There are no kangaroos in Austria". Here's a classic Aussie Pub! I knew they'd get his name in lights eventually!
