Tokyo

The Story

I had to make a flying visit to Tokyo to help our subsidiary there - it was definitely too short a trip as I flew back with the same air crew I went out with, and they remembered me! As I always take my camera travelling, I managed to get a few photos of Tokyo. It is truly an amazing place - never have I felt like such an alien - but I still managed to enjoy the few spare hours I had.

It was an awesome sunset on this night, and the tall buildings made really interesting shapes This is a massive ferris wheel at Tokyo Big Sight - to me, it looked bigger than the BA London Eye Some pretty spectacular architecture in the newer parts of Tokyo - this is part of the Exhibition Centre Downtown Tokyo - not many tall buildings because of the earthquake risk
Akiharbur, a mekka for gadget geeks (like me!) I didn't buy anything though - just wandered from shop to shop with my mouth open The ritzy restaurant & shopping district of Ginza - like Darlinghurst gone Louis Vuitton! Our route to Japan took us over the frozen wastes of northern Siberia - what you can see is snow-covered ground & frozen rivers. There were no towns on the map that I could see for about four hours A hazy photo, but if you look closely you can see massive ice floes floating in a huge lake
