Madrid One

The Story

Josie and I went to Madrid 26-29 August for a long-ish weekend - four days of hot sun, great food & fantastic Spanish culture. Marvelous!

A fantastic chandelier in the Palacio Real - see the lion hiding within? This is the ceiling of the Oriental Room in the Palacio Real - 3D ceramic vines snake across the ceiling. Amazing! A detail of the corner of the Royal Family's private chapel The forecourt of the huge Palacio Real. Who's that dork in the foreground? $->
The Dispensary of the Palacio Real is very elaborate, and includes this massive chest of drawers for storing herbs Josie poses with our feast of tapas at a cafe on the Plaza Mayor ...and of course, no holiday would be complete without a phone call to Stu, just to piss him off! A view out over the Plaza Mayor, with some buskers entertaining the cafe patrons
A busker in Plaza Mayor. I can still hear those haunting pan pipes, echoing around the square Sunset over Madrid, from our room on the Gran Via One of the beautiful buildings in Madrid All dressed up and nowhere to go! If you look closely, you can see Josie's reflection in the window
