Germany Four

The Story

Joey and Kaye came over from Australia to visit for a few weeks in March of 1999. One of the trips we took with them was four wonderful days exploring the south-western corner of Germany, from Frankfurt down to the Black Forest, the Rhine River, and the Mosel River (all the really good bits!) Part of our trip was along the Romantic Road where we stopped in some truly lovely medieval towns. Lots of great photos here!

Joey, Kaye & Josie enjoy a quiet drink at a streetside pub in St Goarhausen, on the banks of the Rhine Castle Maus overlooks the Rhine, part of a battle between duelling German lords - Castle Katz was built just a bit further down the river! Looking across the river to the town of Lorelei, which took it's name from the rock (out of shot to the right) Joey and Kaye try to break into Burg Elz, famous for being the castle used as a model for Disney's Sleeping Beauty film
Inside the beautiful Burg Elz The small gothic protrusion on the left is actually the private family chapel, built out from the main building so that there should be no barrier between the Chapel and God in his Heaven Three happy tourists, entranced by Burg Elz A last look at Burg Elz from the stroll back down to the car
